Basic energy breakdown visualisation service
Without the need to install a dedicated sensor
Using the 30-minutes data from your existing smart meter, we can estimate the energy consumption for each type of home appliances used, breaking it down to 5 types of home appliances (*1). The analysis is done on a daily basis, making it a simpler analysis compared to NILM that require a dedicated sensor. By eliminating the need for the installation of power sensors, makes it possible to provide a basic service with lower initial cost. This new service will contribute to higher customer satisfaction and preventing customer switching.
*1 The home appliance types are air conditioning, refrigerator, standby power, lighting, and other equipments (As of August 2024)
Comparison of NILM and 30 minutes crude NILM
Infometis has long provided NILM technology based on electricity data taken from our own proprietary sensors, and uses the current waveform measured every second to accurately estimate the amount used by each major home appliances. We have been promoting the advanced use of electricity data, such as analyzing and visualizing it to improve household energy management, and connecting the usage status of each home appliances to create value out of it. However, due to the initial investment and installation cost invoiced, we are mainly providing them in collaboration with businesses that manages the properties, such as home builder and property management companies.
By narrowing down the number of home appliances to be analysed and changing the unit of analysis from real-time to daily or monthly units, we have developed an algorithm that only requires 30-minutes data from existing smart meters, we call “Crude NILM”. We are now providing this new service to electricity retailers. By doing so, we are now able to provide services to a far wider public.
How we provide our service
By collaborating with electricity retail companies, and linking their customer and smart meter data, we will analyse each customer on our cloud and return the result by API. The retail companies then will be able to provide a visual display of their customer’s electricity usage analysis on their My Page.
Application example: Terra Rin AI (Itochu Enex Co., Ltd.)
“Terra Rin AI” is a service that allows customers who have subscribed to TERASEL Denki, provided by Itochu Enex Co.,Ltd., to monitor the usage amount of each home appliance on their customer My Page. Using the customer’s home smart meter 30 minute energy data, our AI disaggregation technology breaks down the energy usage into five categories (heating and cooling, refrigerators, standby power, lighting, and other devices). This is a service that visualises the energy usage status. At the same time, by proposing specific energy saving actions tailored to their energy consumption pattern, we will help consumers to reduce their electricity bill and the environmental impact. Energy efficiently that suits the customer’s lifestyle. (currently only available in Japan)
